Archeology Simulation:
The purpose of the archeology unit is for students to discover different ways to learn about the past. In this unit they learn about stratigraphy, how to analyze ancient art, and how to make inferences based on a limited amount of evidence. The final project is the archeology simulation, where students put into practice some of the skills and lessons they have learned during the unit. The first part of the project is the simulation and the second part of the project is a written analysis of what they have discovered during the excavation. This project is a favorite among students because they have the exciting opportunity to experience the work of archeologists. Students who have taken my class in the past still come up to me and tell me how much they loved this project.
